Art Revamp & Inventory System
I’m back! After a, well, long hiatus I am back with some big changes! First off, I revamped all of the Hero’s sprites and condensed them into a neat spritesheet. Don’t get me wrong… but I liked the amount of detail I drew for the Hero but it was inefficient and way too time consuming so I changed it up, and I’m glad I did.
Now with my revamped sprites it’s much easier to animate and implement. This change alone cut my development time in half. This will allow me to actually complete this project in my lifetime 🙂
Once I was done drawing my life away… I started to work out an Inventory system. Before being able to access an inventory there needs to be a way to pickup the item you want to display. To accomplish this I needed a way of indicating the item you were picking up, so I created an Indicator script.
When you select an item it is placed into the games memory and then, when you open up the inventory it’s instantiated at the item slot rect-position. Check out the changes in this weeks update below:
I still have so much more to do, I have barely scratched the surface of this game! If you want to keep up to date with Ranger’s Progress be sure check back here regularly. I will be posting an update every Monday! Also, be sure to follow us on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
Until next week, KEEP ON CREATING
