Google Stadia: The Low Down

by | Oct 16, 2019 | Consoles

I think Google has a plan to take over the world… They have the best search engine, a great phone lineup, and they have a great collection of Google Doodles. Google’s latest endeavor is busting into the gaming scene. They have just launched Google Stadia Founder’s Edition (pre-order). If you haven’t taken a look at the Official Sizzle Reel do so below!

So… what really is Google Stadia? What games will be available to play? And why have another console sitting in your living room? Well let’s dive in to this weeks Low Down!

Streaming never looked so good

Stadia promises to revolutionize the way that we, as gamers, play our favorite titles. It’s kinda unfair to even categorize this as a new Console, when in reality it is the Netflix of Gaming. Google Stadia provides stunning picture with quality sound for even those who have weak internet connections.

“Stadia Founder’s Edition lets you instantly enjoy games in up to 4K on your TV without a console. You can also play across laptops, desktops, Pixel 3, and Pixel 3a with cross-screen early access starting from day one.”

– GOOGLE

But is streaming better? Some may prefer to own physical copies of their favorite games, but a lot of times you need a beefy PC, or a specific console to play them. With Stadia you get to play games on almost any computer with an internet connection. Google Stadia also promises seamless gaming between your PC, TV, Tablet, Phone, and other supported devices… that’s kinda mind boggling.

How much does it cost?

Google Stadia is currently available for pre-order at $129 with the Night Blue Stadia Controller (not required for Stadia), Chromecast Ultra, and some other sweet perks (look at the picture blow for more). The Stadia service itself is available in two packages. The one that is currently available at the time of writing this riveting  exposé is the Stadia Pro package which comes in at $9.99 a month. The second is the FREE package which comes next year. Of course these are just the costs of owning Google Stadia which doesn’t include the price of the titles you want to play.

Show me the games!

Stadia has quite a lineup right out the gate… Here are all the confirmed games (as of October 17) coming to Google Stadia, with more coming soon:

• Assassin's Creed Odyssey • Attack on Titan 2 • Baldur's Gate 3 • Borderlands 3 • Darksiders Genesis • Destiny 2: The Collection • Destroy All Humans • Doom Eternal • Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 • Elder Scrolls Online • Farming Simulator 19 • Final Fantasy 15 • Football Manager 2020 • Get Packed • Ghost Recon Breakpoint • GRID • Gylt • Just Dance 2020 • Kine • Metro Exodus • Mortal Kombat 11 • Orcs Must Die! 3 • Rage 2 • Rise of the Tomb Raider • Samurai Showdown • Shadow of the Tomb Raider • Superhot • The Division 2 • Thumper • Tomb Raider • Trials Rising • Windjammers 2 • Wolfenstein: Youngblood
