Breath of the Wild 2: Everything We Know So Far
I love the Zelda games so much that they have been the only deciding factor when i’m buying a console. But even with all those Zelda games under my belt, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is by far the best game I have ever played! It had intuitive Gameplay, an intriguing story, and game mechanics that i’m still learning about even 2 years after release.
So, of course, I was delightedly surprised to learn that at E3 2019 a new Zelda game was announced, I was even more excited when I realized that this new game would be a continuation of Breath of the Wild, it would be like Majorah’s Mask to the beloved Ocarina of Time! So I decided to do some research to find out all the juicy details that are currently circulating the interwebs on this brand spanking new Zelda game. So here’s everything we know about Breath of the Wild 2 (no title yet… yeah don’t know that one):
CHARACTERS
The green stuff oozing out (or in) of Ganondorf is… well… we don’t know (we will make another article about some theories). However, the dark red/purple goo flowing from the dead king is Malice. Malice was introduced in Breath of the Wild as a kind of barrier and general annoyance.
In the trailer there is also some type of oxen/mule animal and a rat, but I don’t believe they will be integral characters to the game, but who knows (the latter was enveloped by malice so maybe will be facing a Rat-ondorf?).
LOCATION
Hyrule is the same wonderful awe-inspiring place as when we left it after finishing Breath of the Wild. Of course, details will have changed, they probably started rebuilding and possibly even built completely new settlements.
“One of the reasons we wanted to create a continuation was because I wanted to revisit that Hyrule again and use that world again, while incorporating new gameplay and new story,” – Eiji Aonuma | Game Informer
In the trailer for the Breath of the Wild 2, it seems that Link and Zelda are in a cavern or possibly the catacombs underneath Hyrule Castle. Later in the trailer, Hyrule castle is lifted up from the ground. This action seems to separate Link and Zelda, trapping the latter with a quite decomposed Ganondorf.
RELEASE DATE
Short Answer… we don’t know. But don’t expect it to come out this year, Breath of the Wild took five years of work before it was released. Yes, this game does have a bit of a head start since the BotW2 team doesn’t have to figure out a new engine, create an entirely new world map, or make as many game models. But it is still a monuments game and will probably take more than a year of development before release.
Those are my thoughts, i’d love to hear yours in the comments below. Be on the look out for new Breath of the Wild 2 articles right here on varigonstudios.com
