Minecraft Dungeons: All there is to know
Cool, right? There is a lot of details you might have missed in this trailer. So, as is the tradition, this is everything we know so far about Minecraft Dungeons.
WHAT IS IT?
Minecraft Dungeons is a dungeon crawler with Hack’n Slash gameplay. There are many locations where fighting takes place. You fight plethora of enemies all while searching out and collecting loot. It is not like the original minecraft game, where you can build whatever your heart desires and your mind can construct, since this title seems to be a story structured game.
CHARACTERS
There seems to be a total of four playable characters. The game will probably offer you the four characters to select as your character. Each character will probably start off with basically the identical statistics. The only difference might be an aptitude rating in four specific departments (ranger/melee/magic/stealth, or something like that). The reason I belive this to be true is that Mojang promises customization. If each character had already predefined functions, there wouldn’t be much in the way of customization.
“Personalize your character, then fight up-close and personal with melee swings, hang back with ranged attacks, or tank your way through swarms of mobs, shielded by heavy armour!”
– Minecraft Team | MOJANG
Another way player customization will be accomplished is undoubtedly with some kind of clothing / armor mechanic. This would not just be for protection but also style (think breath of the wild). This would really give the player more options and would also force the player to stigmatize. This clothing feature will probably be very limited, however, because the screenshot below shows only one armor slot. The weapons on the other hand, seem to have many options. There may be a forge mode, where you can make you own weapon of choice, possibly using up one of the token types (image below).
GAMEPLAY
I believe that the UI in this game is phenomenal! The Inventory and Map screens are inspired. They look clean and simple. They also are very helpful (which I guess is good since that’s the point of these menus).
Minecraft Dungeons seem to share mobs and enemies with the original Minecraft, although there are some slight differences and exceptions. So far all the enemies confirmed are: Zombies, Skeletons, Soldier Skeletons, Creepers, Spiders, Cave Spiders, Husks, Witches, Illagers, a giant Golem, and an Evil Arch-Illager . That’s already a long list but i’m sure the Mojang Team will be adding more.
“Battle new-and-nasty mobs in this all-new action-adventure, inspired by classic dungeon crawlers.”
– Minecraft Team | MOJANG
One of the massive draws to Minecraft Dungeons is that it is a four player co-op multiplayer. So you can grab your friends and consoles of your choice and have an epic game night. For me, however, the biggest draw is carring a big fat key with a face on it… but that’s just me. Minecraft Dungeons will be realeased in the spring of 2020.
